FUTURE <VOID>

„If a future doesn’t produce a usable value, then the future’s type is Future<void>.” (Dart, programming language)

In a composition of dance, movement, sound, light and video, choreographers Lisanne Goodhue and Ildikó Tóth, together with media artist Matthias Gruner and sound artist Felix Deufel, explore the reciprocal relationships between past and present, present and future. In the factory TECHNE SPHERE Leipzig, they attempt to disentangle, fragment and reunite temporalities in new ways. The body tunes into processes that are comparable to video editing. Fragments of the past are transferred to the present, bodies of the future and bodies of the now - the audience, the performers, the film and the sound - are questioned.

Based on the previous work Passed Present Perfect, which was developed during the 2021 pandemic at Schaubühne Lindenfels and partly performed on screen, Future<void> uses the body as a tool to travel through time. Diverse realities of the past, present and future are created that put the audience's perception to the test. Movement, time-lapse, manipulated sounds, crowd images and streams of movement allow the TECHNE SPHERE Leipzig to be experienced - concrete, hoists and columns are both material and participants. Everything communicates, but not every effect has a cause. The unexpected happens.
